Customer Rating: Summary: Surprising For Such a Little Book Comment: This book was recommended to me because of the second in the series.
When I first looked and found out there were no words, I was confused--I'd never seen a book with NO words, so I guessed we were supposed to make up the story ourselves and asked my daughter what she saw. She's had a great time with it and she can 'read' it on her own as well. My best friend loved the lack of words when she was reading it to my daughter. It was the first book, however, that she did not accept "the end" on--she wanted to go through it over and over!
The only downside to that is that we are trying to learn some letter and word recognition, but I have lots of other books for that. I like that the story is open to interpretation that way, though. And my daughter loves to concentrate on the emotions of the pages, which was new and I found that exciting.
There are a few things that don't apply and I'm sure confuse her a little (like decorating the nursery--we don't use a nursery and being left behind when Mom gives birth--not our family) but there's no words to force the idea on her, so we can make up our own story about what's happening there (like they're redecorating the play room instead).
While the book features a little boy, we pretend its a little girl, since the hair still looks like my daughter's, so it's quite wonderful for her, as though it's a book about the life she's experiencing right now and about to (the next book).
Customer Rating: Summary: Toddler unterstanding pregnancy Comment: Together with second volume when baby is born I believe its a good preparation of what is to come with a new baby brother or sister
Customer Rating: Summary: Good Book for Little Ones! Comment: This book was one of the ones I selected for my grandson. He is a lover of books and was about to become a big brother. This book was delightful and really brings home the realty of waiting FOREVER for the baby to come.
Customer Rating: Summary: Best Comment: This is the best book we have to talk to our 15 month old about our coming baby. Since there are no words, we are able to use the words we've chosen ("there's a baby hiding inside mommy") for describing what is happening. She often gets up, comes over, and kisses my stomach when we're reading the book (this is not shown in the book).
Part of the book shows the parents getting into the car to go to the hospital. The child later goes to the hospital to see the baby. A few weeks ago we told our daughter that we were going to the hospital. She immediately got really excited and started signing and saying "baby!". She understood from just going through this book a few times.
Customer Rating: Summary: cute book Comment: it takes a little imagination because there are no words to the book. but my son (2 years old) and i enjoy flipping through the pages and making up our own story (stories).
