Customer Rating: Summary: You get what you pay for Comment: Well, you get what you pay for. I carefully read any instructions they had - and then attached it to the dashboard with the sticky square on the bottom. As I was trying to put the cell phone into it - it fell off. I re-attached it pressing hard - holding it - and put the phone in. Didn't drive far before the mount and the phone fell on the floor. After the 3rd time - I threw the little holder out. It might work for someone else with a different covering on their dash -- but - not for me and I'd fiddled with it long enough.
Customer Rating: Summary: Usable with a slight modification Comment: I purchased this for my LG VX8300 phone after many fruitless trips to my Verizon store to see if they had a car vent holder.
I have an extended life battery on my phone which pushes the phone out of the holder several millimeters. If it weren't for that, perhaps the holder would grip the phone more securely. As it is, I'll be using a pair of rubber bands to hold it in place in case I hit a pothole or something.
Since I would use this for hands free speaker phone use as well, this really isn't much of an inconvenience. Be aware, though that when you first put the phone in and squeeze the sides in, it will push the buttons on the side of your phone. When I first put it in, it attempted to activate the voice command function.
As it sits, there is enough clearance for my car charger to attach to the bottom.
There are two mounting options: 1.) Permanent, adjustable mounting via an adhesive backed pad. 2.) The vent clip.
The product description mentions installation with a screwdriver. The only need I saw for that was in order to push down the mounting bracket locking tab to switch brackets. It's not like it's a complicated product.
Normally, I would have given this two stars. However, when you consider it's only a buck ninety eight, it almost deserves four.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great deal and nice item Comment: I bought this for my iPod, but while waiting for the iPod adapter for my car to arrive, my LG VX8500 moved in to this holder and doesn't want to move out. Positioned on the vent, I can actually use the BB's speakerphone comfortably. The vent clip attaches very securely. The arms adjust for width, depth, and height of the mobile device to create a custom fit. I test-fit the iPod (while the VX8500 was out for a walk). 20GB iPod even while still riding in its protective case (Contour Design 4G Showcase). Now to order a second one for the iPod!
Customer Rating: Summary: You get what you pay for Comment: The vent clip broke the first time I tried to fit it in my car. You can't expect much for under $2 so at least you are not disappointed. The whole item is poor quality and not worth the shipping costs. I didn't even want to give it one star!
