Customer Rating: Summary: Fun and Easy to Use! Comment: We got this ice cream maker for Christmas, and have made vanilla and strawberry ice cream so far, using the low fat recipe. It comes out great, although it does take a little longer than the recommended time. The recipes are easy enough that my 10 year old granddaughter can make them. I am considering ordering another bowl so we can make more without having to wait for the container to freeze again. The kids love the mix-ins, and have made both cones and bowls of ice cream with success. The ice cream stays frozen in the machine for quite a while, so everyone can go back for seconds (if there's any left). We'll use this often.
Customer Rating: Summary: Don't waste your money, go to Dairy Queen Comment: I purchased this for my husband for Christmas because he loves soft serve ice cream. We followed the directions as stated, even leaving the bowl in the back of our freezer for 48 hours prior. I also refrigerated the ice cream mix for a couple of hours prior. We were very disappointed with the flavor and consistency. If you wait too long, it won't dispense, and the window of opportunity right before that results in the "soft serve" melting to milkshake consistency the second it hits your bowl. The topping dispensers are very limited in what you can put in them because the openings are very small and items get stuck. The amount of ice cream that one recipe makes barely served 5 bowls of ice cream for our family, and they were small bowls. You are not able to make another batch for another 24 hours unless you purchase a separate bowl that has been frozen and is ready to go. Clean up is not a simple task, either. We were very disappointed and have returned ours. Save your money, it isn't worth the $90.00.
Customer Rating: Summary: Amazing!!! Comment: I was a bit skeptical about buying this after reading all the mixed reviews. When we got it turns out everything works fine! Just have to keep an eye on it because it will get thick quickly once it starts...Other than that amazing!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: would rate ZERO if possible Comment: Makes cold, sweet milk and a big mess. Tried several times. Froze bowl; chilled ingredients; checked periodically; and NEVER got anything like soft-serve ice cream. Would take it to Goodwill but I don't want anyone else to waste their money on this plus all the ingredients and only be disappointed!
Customer Rating: Summary: This is a toy Comment: I bought this for my wife for Xmas. I pre-chilled the bowl and was ready to go today. I decided on their simple vanilla recipe. Basically, it made frozen whip cream. The problem with this machine is that you cannot regulate the thickness of the product. Second, if you try to let it thicken longer, the machine contorts and the top pops its' locks and the paddles and gear disengage. This is long before you could ever reach ice cream consistency and you cannot change the temperature to keep it from doing this. The front of the machine says that you should scoop out all of the soft serve once it gets stuck. This defeats the purpose. Also, the candy dispensers barely work and are very sensitive to the texture of the material. I see that the original retail price was $235.00. This was fantasy. A $30.00 ice cream maker will do a better job than this thing with plastic paddles and gears. I would have to say that this thing looks good, but is really a piece of garbage. I will be returning this one. I made better ice cream with two ziplock bags some crushed ice and salt.
